Mr. Wang Ning, vice minister of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China (MOHURD) gave a speech at the first training session of the national building standard design for modern construction industry.  He emphasized that China modern construction industry developed very well in recent years, which has become the highlight of emerging strategy and transforming & upgrading of construction industry.

In 2014, China Institute of Building Standard Design & Research finished the work of national building standard design system for modern construction industry and related atlas, authorized by MOHURD. 

Mr. Wang pointed out the three aspects of further development:

What is the current situation?

1.    Continually expanding the market scale: constructing areas of China modern building industry will reach to 46.5 million SQMs, comparing with 18.65 million SQMs in 2014.

2.    Gradually improving technical system and standards: there are over 70 technical standards covering design, manufacturing, constructing and quality testing, which formed a comprehensive technical standards system to strongly support the modern building industry development.

3.    Quickly increasing the production capacity

4.    Significantly guiding by policies and measures: many regions have released feasible measures of land, planning, finance and tax to guide and push the healthy development modern building industry.

Next Steps

1. Strengthening the technical support: firstly to improve the technical system of concrete, steel and wood structure, implement innovation of key technologies and popularize the mature technology system in form of standards design and guidelines; secondly to improve standardization such as modularization and size of general parts; thirdly to mix with information technologies including BIM, so as to improve all-life cycle management and engineering quality; fourthly to comprehensively develop the turnkey project.
2. Realizing management innovation: establish the suitable management model of modern building industry and optimize the project management.
3. Strengthening supervisory work, including research and adjustment on access system and improvement on quality and security supervisory system.
4. Intensifying the guidance of policy and public medias: firstly to launch related incentives; secondly to foster the industry union and completely industry chain; thirdly to develop demonstration projects, so as to spread the reliable technologies and management experience.
